The birthday gift

Location: Other, Santa Cruz, California
Industry: Technology
Annoyed By: Sales persons

Yesterday I went into the local Best Buy in Capitola, California with the intention of purchasing an Ipod and Ipod port. I was prepared to spend around 200.00 for her gift. She loves music but has been without a player of any kind since the fire. So, after after waiting 20 minutes at the MP3 section of the store, I search for a sales person. The first one I asked rushed off stating that she was busy. So I look around again and find what I thought would be a helpful sales person and may have been if we weren't interrupted by another sales person that took him away. I did get enough information from this person to determine that the price of the songs from the Itune store would be cost prohibitive. So, I go over to the Sirus radio which is in the Audio car department...waiting....waiting...searching...
I realize that I am developing a crane neck syndrome, and I am not the only who one who is...waiting...waiting...So, I go up to the front door to where the manager of the store is sitting but apparently does he not have a clue about how his store is functioning. I ask for assistance from a sales person. The sales person, (the same one who was taken away earlier) explains the system, and more importantly, the cost. I decide on a boom box. Rather than wait again, I search on my own. In a tucked away corner I select from a very limited selection...I long for the days for more than one tech store in this county.

Lack of service at Best Buy was worth $100/hour

Location: British Columbia, Vancouver
Industry: Retail
Annoyed By: No one because no one helped me

I received very minimal help by the staff at a Best Buy location in British Columbia. So I sent a complaint as follows:
"Hello,
I went to the Best Buy location in ----, British Columbia at 8:45 in the evening. Please send the management this following message: Your team needs to be educated in customer service. I was at the mice and keyboard section when I asked a CSR playing with a Sony Ebook reader for help. He said that he'll get the CSR for that department. He never came back. As time past when I was waiting, 5 CSRs passed me without asking me for assistance. When I flagged another CSR over assistance, he had to page some other CSR. When the CSR for keyboards came by, I asked if he had a Bamboo pen and touch in stock. He said he'll check the inventory at the back. 15 minutes past without any feedback. I went to the entrance of the inventory looking for the CSR. I saw him chatting with stuff and laughing with them. After he left the inventory room, he looked and past me without saying anything. I had to catch up to him and ask him about the product. He said that he forgot about it and said there's nothing in stock. Again, please tell their manager about their lack of customer service. I can certainly get better service at a motorcycle bar."
Within 48 hours, I received an apology from the store manager and a $50 gift card as a sign of goodwill.

COMPLAIN TO SOMEONE WHO CARES

Location: Alberta, Edmonton
Industry: Retail
Annoyed By: Future Shop/Best Buy

Okay, so I understand you want your voices to be heard. Please....let us hear them!!

As a Customer Service manager of a large electronics retailer I have seen almost anything, from the regular malfunctions, to the PB&J stuck in the machines. We usually can do something for you though. Stop going onto the internet and complaining!! On your receipt there is a customer service survey, hit there first. Give it a week and if they don't help, call the 1-800# . It's that simple. And if it still doesn't help, maybe just step back for a second and ask if you're being a total moron in your problem.

who else? BEST BUY!

Location: Ontario, STC and Markville Mall
Industry: Retail
Annoyed By: BEST BUY

During the X'mas holidays, i wanted to purchase Little Big Planet. I saw it on sale for $49.99 at Best Buy, so i zoomed to the STC best buy.

I pick up one out of an entire stack of Little Big Planet cards when i was told they're sold out. SO i went to get a raincheck. They said they would call me once they had it in stock and i could buy it for $49.99. 2 weeks later, Best Buy had a sale on Little Big Planet for $44.99. OBVIOUSLY they had not called me when they had it in stock!

The 44.99 sale started next day so i go over to the Markville Best Buy at 10am (they open at 9am) to have them tell me. they sold out.! So i dash over to the Best Buy at STC and they too said it was sold out.....UNTIL I HELPED AN EMPLOYEE PICK UP AN EMPTY CARDBOARD BOX THEY HAD DROPPED. apparently there was "one more sitting in the back room".

never trust Best Buy....

Annoyed By: Best Buy

Same for the best buy stores in New Jersey.
I was gifted a laptop, which was not working right (a defect).
It was bought by my wife for me and they had nothing I wanted.
I returned it within two days And they stole money from me also.
These type of places should be shut down.
15 % restocking fee, its a joke I watched the guy walk two feet and put it on a shelf. Remember IT was a defect.

Best Buy No Commission policy = Bad Service

Location: Alberta, Edmonton
Industry: Technology

We went to Best Buy to purchase a MP3 player, our decision was made on model and make, we just wanted the player of our choice. We get to Best Buy and stand around for at least 10 to 15 minutes in front of the locked display. We noticed 4 sale rep talking to each other in the next isle. We approached one of them and asked if he could get the MP3 from the locked display, he replied yes in a minute, he needed to get the key. So we walk back to the locked display and waited. 10 minutes later I noticed this sale rep helping someone else and wondering what happened with the mysterious key. I approached another sale rep and was told he would get the key right way. Another 5 minutes went by and no sale rep were around anymore....

We left the store, before leaving I explained the story to the manager who replied "I'm sorry" and didn't offer anything to make us stay or correct the problem.

The no sale commission policy doesn't help Best Buy, unless you like shopping or browsing with no one asking you to help you, then Best Buy is the place. Good luck getting an item locked away.

Best Buy has some bad policies....

Location: Ontario, Toronto
Industry: Retail
Company: Best Buy
md mv

Normally, I would not share this with others, however, since this could happen to you or your friends , I decided to share it. If you purchase something from, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, JC Penny, Sears etc. and you return the item with the receipt they will give you your money back if you paid cash, or credit your account if paid by plastic.

Well, I purchased a GPS for my car, a Tom Tom XL.S from 'Best Buy'. They have a policy that it must be returned within 14 days for a refund!

So after 4 days I returned it in the original box with all the items in the box, with paper work and cords all wrapped in the plastic. Just as I received it, including the receipt.

I explained to the lady at the return desk I did not like the way it could not find store names. The lady at the refund desk said, there is a 15% restock fee, for items returned. I said no one told me that. I said how much would that be. She said it goes by the price of the item. It will be $45.00 Dollars for you. I said, all your going to do is walk over and place it back on the shelf then charge me $45.00 of my money for restocking? She said that's the store policy. I said if more people were aware of it they would not buy anything here! If I bought a $2000.00 computer or TV and returned it I would be charged $300.00 dollars restock fee? She said yes, 15%.

I said OK, just give me my money minus the restock fee.

She said, since the item is over $200.00 dollars, she can't give me my money back!!!

Corporate has to and they will mail you a check in 7 to ten days.!! I said 'WHAT?!'

It's my money!! I paid in cash! I want to buy a different brand..Now I have to wait 7 to 10 days. She said well, our policy is on the back of your receipt.

I said, do you read the front or back of your receipt? She said well, the front! I said so do I, I want to talk to the Manager!.

So the manager comes over, I explained everything to him, and he said, well, sir they should of told you about the policy when you got the item. I said, No one, has ever told me about the check refund or restock fee, whenever I bought items from computers to TVs from Best Buy. The only thing they ever discussed was the worthless extended warranty program. He said Well, I can give you corporate phone number.

I called corporate. The guy said, well, I'm not supposed to do this but I can give you a 45.00 dollar gift card and you can use it at Best Buy. I told him if I bought something and returned it, you would charge me a restock fee on the item and then send me a check for the remaining 3 dollars. You can keep your gift card, I'm never shopping in Best Buy ever again, and if I would of been smart, I would of charged the whole thing on my credit card! Then I would of canceled the transaction.

I would of gotten all my money back including your stupid fees! He didn't say a word!

I informed him that I was going to e-mail my friends and give them a heads up on this stores policy, as they don't tell you about all the little caveats.

So please pass this on. It may save your friends from having a bad experience of shopping at Best Buy

Best Buy

Location: , Woodbridge
Industry: Technology
Company: Best Buy

i bought a garmin Nuvi 250 from bestbuy just few days ago when it was $250
Today i saw Dell canada selling it for $149.99
I called bestbuy and request for a price protection. At first the lady talked to me and tell me the product can't be price match because of number 1 beside of the price
(1 All prices exclude taxes and environmental advanced disposal surcharges where applicable. Prices subject to error. Promotional pricing is not combinable with any other offers or volume based or other discounts to which you may be entitled unless otherwise specifically advertised. Availability may be limited. Pre-loaded software does not include documentation and may differ from retail version. )

i explained to her that all the products on Dell website have that on the side of the price. and It's not a limited quantity.
She then tell me to hold the line and after 30 minutes coming back and asking who i am.
after talking to her again. She kinda remember about me asking for a price match.
She then said she is not the person who can make the decision and she did send a request form for me. I asked her so why she put me on hold for 30 mins if you are not the person who can make a decision and tell me it couldn't be match at the first place.
Then she lied to me that she never talked to me before and never saying something like that or make me wait on the line.
She then put me on hold for few more minutes and come back tell me they can't do the price protection because Dell will not ship the next day. (What the heck is going on with shipping the next day )

i then asked to speak with a manager and then she transfer me to someone and this girl just tell me that they will not price match because of the shipping time and tell me they explained it to me already and just hang up the phone.

I'm really pissed at how they treat their customer.

BestBuy

Location: British Columbia, Langley
Industry: Technology
Company: Best Buy
Annoyed by: Girl working at the front-cashier

Went to BestBuy Langley to Pricematch (or PM) Z5500 that was selling at Dell today for $199. After it got approved by a manager in the computer dept., I went to the front checkout with the approval slip.

Big mistake! The b'tch working the cashier (good-looking actually), tried to deny my approved PM. Saying "We only PM from .CA websites, not .COM." I explained to her that it already got approved, and that if you order it from the Dell.ca website - it gets processed (forwards you) through the Dell.com site. Appearently another manager (who she is consulting with) near the front counter is rejecting the PM. Anyways, she ended up calling the original person that approved the PM - and that guy ended up telling her just to PM it which she finally did - "Sorry for the hassle."

Now looking back at what happened, WTF!? Why try to deny something that's already been approved? What a friggen b'tch.

BEST BUY WOODBRIDGE OUTRAGE - Manager throws customers keys into garbage

Location: Ontario, Woodbridge
Industry: Retail mv
Company: Best Buy

I hope this is the right forum, and that someone can help me out, or point me into the right direction.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- A few week ago at BB location (Woodbridge [Hwy 7 and 400]), I parked my car, had my keys in my hand, and an item to return. As I left Customer Service, I was distracted by one of their flyer, so I stood there for a minute or two, and reviews the different sales.

As I walked away to look at a new mouse and keyboard at the back of the store.
I was in and out in 15 minutes, walking out, I quickly glanced to my left at the Security booth, and saw the Security Officer, Manager, and a Sales Rep at the counter. Just then the Security Officer gave the Manager a bunch of keys, on the same instance (said Manager) drop it into the large garbage bin (I did not hear any spoken words).
I decided to check for my car keys, and it wasn't there. In the same instance the Security Officer asked if it was my keys, I reply "possibly", and he reached in and pulled out MY BUNCH OF KEYS.

I took down the Managers name, left the store to compose myself, then went back in, and spoke to another Manager (different from the CULPRIT). He apologized, and agreed to the following:
- There is a store policy for lost/returned items - and this instance protocols were not followed.
- He took my contact information, and noted that he will have someone call me back.
- Advised that because he is a Manager, and on the same hierarchal scale as the other Manager, he could not do anything about it (reprimand), other than take notes, document it, and have a Higher Being (General Manager), call me back.
- Three weeks have past, and I have not received a phone call.

ISSUE ON HAND:
1 - MY FAULT, I should have been more responsible with my keys.
2 - Why wasn't the lost/returned item properly documented, and kept in a safe place, in the case I was to return, knowing well that it was at this location that I misplaced my keys?
3 - Is this how a Manager, under professional conduct, acts in front of other subordinate employee's (Security Officer, Sales Rep).
4 - Is this how Best Buy shows a commitment to their customers?

I'm sure other will scrutinize me for forgetting my keys. I'll take fault to it, none the less it was a mistake, why wasn't protocols followed?

Your questions, and comments, and are welcome

--NOTE: This issue originally happened Jun 21st, 2005 to RedFlag Deals
UPDATE: Nobody followed up or called me about this issue

Best Buy, bad service

Location: Ontario, Ottawa
Industry: Retail
Company: Best Buy

I went to Best Buy to get a wire for my home theatre and I had to get someone to help me find it, it took 7 minutes and 3 different persons to find the dawm thing. I went to the cash, paid with a debit card and went out. Before I got to my car, I realized they charge me $10 more than the price tag. So I went back in. The guy at the door told me I had to go to the service counter to bring the wire back...???
after telling him my story again, he told me the same. So I had to get in line with 8 persons in front of me for 15 minutes to be able to talk to the guy who took my receipt and went trying to find the manager to do whatever they had to do with it. Finally, I was able to get my $10 back. I Ieft without the wire. The guy at the door asked me if I found everything I need and gave me a nice "have a goog day", I couldn't believe it!

I have lots of friends, I know a lot of people and I have a very big mouth!

RE: Best Buy Store

Location: Alberta, Red Deer
Industry: Retail
Company: Best Buy

In reply to post "Best Buy Store".

Yeah, they're all the same. About six months ago I decided to try an iMac since I was fed up trying run Windows XP. Went into Best Buy with a few questions. After trying 3 or 4 teeny boppers I finally found a kid who told me the truth. There was one guy in the store who knew about iMacs, but he was off for two days. He would gladly check the schedule to let me know when this person was available. You would think I was setting up an appointment with a doctor or a bank teller. So long Best Buy! I haven't been back, nor will I. And if anyone thinks I'm kidding...ever since PBS ran the story on how Sears coluded with Sony to undermine the North American television manufacturing sector I have never set foot in one of their stores. That was 20 years ago and I used to buy there all the time.

Best Buy Store - Eglinton and Warden - Scarborough

Location: Ontario, Scarborough
Industry: Retail
Company: Best Buy

I wanted to purchase a compact disc boom box. Asked three salesman if I could have a sample cd to hear the quality of the sound. One told me to go somelse in the right section, the second one told me they had no cd's to play, meanwhile the store has a cd section (strange), the third guy said was not his problem and could not help me.

Never again will I shop at this Best Buy, very poor service staff. Must say not all Best Buy stores are like this one!
