Parkers Chrysler in Penticton

Location: British Columbia, Penticton
Industry: Automotive
Annoyed By: COLIN PARKER

We met with the sales manager Brant Roshinsky and Ron from finance to further discuss the trading our dodge challenger SRT( purchased at Kelowna dodge less than one year ago. Upon agreeing on the trade in value of our car and the price of a new one we agreed to go ahead with financing. I am unsure of the date this transaction took place. We chose Parkers Chrysler because they could get a black RT while the dealership in Penticton could not.

When asked on the spot how much I made per year I told Ron 50-60 K. We left and he contacted the bank we had currently had a loan with and when they turned us down he proceeded to contact other banks. Upon the banks receiving my financial information,T4s and paystubs it was understood by everyone that I made 52k not 60k. The financing was then supposed to be processed with that information.

While we were figuring out the financing we spoke to Ron on a regular basis and even visited the car that was shipped in from Saskatchewan. We had not been approved yet and Ron was trying to vigorously get us approved through any way possible. On a nightly phone call to Ron he asked for a deposit of 1000 from my credit card to hold the car because this was taking longer than we all anticipated. He assured me if I was not financed we would of course be able to get our deposit back.No issue.

When I heard back from Sherry Burnett of Penticton Prospera Credit Union they did not feel comfortable financing my loan. We called Ron who was furious because apparently they said it would be no problem. He was upset because they brought the car in from Saskatchewan and now there was no deal. I told Ron sorry, asked him if we could get our deposit back and he said sure i will do that for you.

One week later while in Alberta visiting my parents and Grandmother Ron left a voice mail on my phone and said Scotia will finance you and Parkers Chrysler will front the 3200 needed for the deposit on the loan. My grandmother had gallstones and would be getting them removed and then her Gallbladder removed so we were in Coleman hospital alot with her. On the second day of being at the hospital my dad had a heartattack on the way to visit her. He was in ICU at the time and I did not want to deal with anything else. On Thursday ,Chris (my common law fiancé called Ron-he was at work in Fort Mac at the time-and said it was a bad time for us,explaining the situation and that we will just leave it and not go through with the financing of Scotia. He said we would be needing our deposit back and Ron said that would not be possible because we had to pay for the shipping of the car. Chris then spoke to the sales manager Brant Roshinsky (still over the phone) who basically called Chris a liar that we were trying to get out of the deal the entire time. Chris relayed this information to me. I called Ron back and he just said I needed to speak to the manager and hung up on me. I called Chrysler and they gave me the name of the owner. I called him and he said no way were we getting our deposit back but we could pick up our car anytime because we were approved. I asked him how that was possible because Scotia never had my financial information. I only gave it to Sherry Brunett from Prospera. He then yelled at me and said come pick up your car. Scotia approved you. He was not giving us our deposit back. I was upset and said I would NEVER buy anything from him. He said fine and hung up on me. Friday I drove the 8 hours home from Coleman to deal with Parkers Chrysler while my Grandmother was still in the hospital and my dad was still in ICU at the same hospital. He was awaiting an angioplasty surgery in Calgary.

The next day(Saturday) we decided if they insisted on keeping our deposit we would then go pick up our car. I called Ron in finance and got transferred to Chris in finance. He told us that Ron did not work there anymore and would take a look at our file and call us back. Once he located the file,he relayed to us that he was told to get rid of it because we did not want the car. I told him the owner said we were approved and could pick up the car. He said we were not. They didn't even have any of our information(proof of income to send to Scotia to get us approved. I faxed Chris my T4 and paystubs that day. We negotiated via text message(because the receptionist would no longer transfer our calls to anyone) that we would be giving them an extra thousand dollars upon receipt of the car and negotiated to pay Parkers the 3200 dollar loan to get financed in post dated checks over one year. I did not get approved and needed my commonlaw fiancé on the loan to get approved I did not want to do that.

Tuesday ,we from our home in Kelowna to Penticton to speak to them in person. I was tired of getting hung up on and our calls were not getting transferred to anyone. We spoke to Brant the sales manager to see what he could do. He told us that if it made me feel better Ron from finance got fired because of this. He then went back and forth with Colin Parker (the owner )to try and get our deposit back. Brant told us that because they had to pay the $800 dollars to get it shipped there was no way Colin would budge on our deposit. He offered that if they sold the Challenger RT to anyone we would get our deposit back. Of course we refused that offer. We didn't pay for them to have it shipped to Penticton.
Colin Parker refused to meet with us at all even though he was there. Brant sent us to Chris in finance we just talked about how Ron dragged our credit score through the ditch because he did a very sloppy job at trying to get us financed. And that our FICO went from 707 to 612 because of this. Chris said he could have gotten us financing but there's nothing that could be done now. He told us he would keep trying with Colin to get our deposit back and that we should just let him handle it. We left.

That night I was reading on the motor vehicle sales authority website their information regarding deposits and realized that an over the phone transaction did not jive with how the MVSA insists deposit transactions are to be handled. There is absolutely nothing written, signed in regards to that deposit not even a receipt. Along with the directive 13 regarding deposits from the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia ,the information on the next page of this statement is what is on the website regarding deposits.

Understanding deposits
Be sure you understand the deposit, return and exchange policies of the dealership before you sign any documents. Remember, the term deposit can be used to describe quite different things. It is an industry best practice to be sure that the terms of any deposit are clear and in writing.
Depending on when it is taken in a transaction, a deposit may be a separate agreement for a variety of services. It could be an agreement for services to:

• Hold a vehicle for a period of time
• Locate a vehicle from another dealer
• Bring in a vehicle from the manufacturer, and/or
• Arrange financing for a vehicle

Be sure you know what your deposit is for.
If the deposit is part of an agreement to purchase a specific vehicle and all the terms and conditions are known, it may actually be a partial payment or down payment.
The terms and conditions of giving a deposit or partial payment must be clear and unambiguous. The terms and conditions must be provided to you. At a minimum, if a deposit is taken a motor dealer must:

• Clearly distinguish in writing a deposit from a partial payment or down payment. They are not the same.
• Clearly state in writing the purpose for which the deposit is taken
• Clearly state the amount of the deposit in writing
• Clearly state in writing when the deposit will or will not be refundable
• Clearly state in writing any other terms and conditions, such as whether a deposit will be apply towards the purchase price of a vehicle
• Provide you with a copy of the deposit agreement

If there is a written purchase agreement, the law requires motor dealers to detail the terms and conditions under which a deposit may and may not be refundable. Even when a deposit is stated to be non-refundable, there may be situations when a deposit will be refundable; such as when a dealership cannot deliver on its promise.

At 140 pm on Wednesday myself my fiancé and our three year old daughter went to Parkers Chrysler and wanted to meet with Colin. Instead of asking anyone to see him because we knew he would refuse my fiancé saw him in his office. He asked if he was Colin Parker and Colin said yes. We told him who we were and that we needed to speak with him in regards to the VSA and how Ron did not follow the terms in regards to the deposit. He told us to get out of his office and that we lied about our income.I told him that we didn't come for a confrontation that I brought my daughter and just wanted to go over the VSA information that I read. He became completely irate yelling "get off my property, get out get out"saying he was calling the cops. He was yelling so we were yelling telling him to do it. He would not . He just kept yelling get out.He was standing up and went at my fiancé putting both hands on his chest and pushing all his weight into him. I guess he was trying to push him out of the office. We didn't have our cellphones to call the police so I told him Im going to find a phone and call the cops. There were customers in the dealership and we were all infront of a glass window. Everyone saw and everyone heard. When I said I was going to get a phone and take him to small claims Colin told us we could have our deposit and not to come back. We went with Brant in financing to complete the transaction of the return of our 1000 dollar deposit back on our mastercard. Brant and Chris the finance guy shook my fiancés hand and relayed to him that they wont be working for a guy like that much longer and good for him for standing up to him. We left.

Although we received our deposit I am filing a complaint with the BBB and the VSA because I cannot believe the unprofessionalism of Colin Parker. He refused to take any ownership of any fault they might have been in. He did not stand by his employees ,take charge of the situation or try to difuse it. He hid in his office refusing to deal with us.

World Finance in Tyler, TX

Location: Other, Tyler, TX
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: The Manager

I had previously opened up a loan at this loan company. My dad needed money because times were tough so I opened the loan up under my name and he paid on it. Since he was taking care of the loan I didn't worry about it. When I walked in today I asked to get a loan, gave the assistant manager my name, and he said they would have to run an application. The reason I had gone into the loan company this time around was because I got a flyer in the mail saying I could get a large loan. I wanted to help out my dad again since he had gotten laid off from his job recently so I wanted to give him a little extra help. The manager heard my name and yelled out No! I told your dad we would never open up a loan in your name again because your dad had to pay your loan out for you and no you can never get a loan here because you were late and you made our office suffer and we aren't going to give you a loan. I told the manager that I was sorry, that I didn't know that my dad was behind on the payments, that I had gotten the loan to help him and he had told me he was going to pay the loan off so I never worried about the loan. She told me my credit was now super bad due to world finance and that I was never going to get good credit and that they would never ever let me borrow money and she kept on and on and on and on.The manager was super rude, made me feel like trash, and spoke to me very arrogantly and unchristian like. I didn't know what was going on with that loan and figured it got paid out on time.My dad never told me about being behind. The fact was the loan was paid out. I know that I should have checked up on this loan but things happen and you worry about other things. I understand that in great part it was my fault that I now have bad credit but this does not give this lady the right to speak to me the way she did. I not only felt hate from her but also racism. She could have told me in a nice manner or in a strict manner but not in the hateful tone of voice that she did. I believe that loan companies exsist in order to help those in need out. This lady could have talked to me in a professional manner but she was very vulgar and low-class. What makes me feel horrible was the way she looked me up and down and made me feel like I was nothing. All I wanted to do was help my father out and she made me feel like a horrible person. I just wanted to let you the world know that this lady is unchristian like and is not someone you would want to deal with.... What hurts the most is that my dad still has an open loan with them. He will have to deal with her horrible way of treating people who are late on their payments due to things outside of their reach. My mission now is to work hard to help my dad pay off his loan with this company so that he will never have to converse with such a spiteful, unprofessional, unchristianlike person who does not know how to truly help and serve those in need.

Paid $130 for nothing!

Location: Alberta, Calgary
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Shoeboxed.com

They STATE: The fastest way to turn a pile of receipts into digital data for effortless expense reporting, accounting, bookkeeping, and tax preparation.

I sent them my receipts, they only scanned some of them, and they didn't enter the taxes like it states on the website. Upon discovering what they did was useless I wanted my receipts back - upon request of course.

They told me they sent my receipts on the 8th, I called on the 18th because they told me it would take 10 days. I called again asking for the tracking number - no tracking available. They insisted they mailed them on the 8th and to be patient. I called again on the 24th, not only was there no tracking but no insurance so if my receipts were lost I could only sue them for damages. Finally the box arrived on the 29th Imagine my dismay to read the shipping slip wasn't filled out until the 18th and didn't get post office until the 24th.

When I asked for my $136 back they told me I didn't qualify for a refund because they did their job.

BMO Mosaik Management: time to replace

Location: Ontario, Brampton
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: BMO Mosaik Mastercard

I have had absolutely terrible experiences dealing with BMO Mosaik Mastercard. I have had no issues with the direct banking side of the business however. The issues have been the following: 1) very poor quality of interaction: I have had very unpleasant conversations with the phone reps at Mosaik. It is quite obvious that their quality is either not monitored, or it is very poorly managed. I have received inaccurate information, incomplete information, and I am rushed off my call each and every time that I call. It is really not a complicated equation: provide complete and accurate information, and I won't have to call back. 2) Extremely long wait times.... I am referring to wait times of up to 10 or 15 minutes. I have actually clocked one wait at close to 30 minutes. I have received the same excuse each and every time (that they are short staffed and hiring). Well, I can certainly understand why their employees are leaving.... I can also understand that when a customer has to call back 3 and 4 times to obtain accurate information, it really isn't shocking that their phone lines are jammed. Needless to say, I have taken by business elsewhere. It is clearly time to roll over the senior management in that organization.... especially since the issue seems to be focused in on the mosaik portion of the business.... pretty obvious.

Location: Ontario, toronto

Annoyed By: CIBC

CIBC kept callign my house, my cell phone, my parents home about defaulting payment to credit cards. they were rude to my parents on the phone, they treated them liek they were the parents of a criminal.

the kicker?

i dont have any CIBA accounts whatsoever. NOTHING. i called them repeatedly askign them why they keep calling me, apparently they confused me with someone who shares the same name.
we corrected this but i still ended up with these calls. not only that but they contact the credit bureau and this has resulted in affecting my credit history.
although they finally stopped calling, finally realized i share the same name as the person they are looking for (although different age, different SIN) they could not offer to do anything about the credit bureau charges. they offered me their services for premium account at no charge.
yeah right. definitely not going to bother with them

TD Canada "Trust"?

Location: Ontario, Toronto
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: TD Canada Trust

These past two weeks have been quite a hassle. My boyfriend and I went to TD Bank to get a money order so that we could pay our rent. Everything went smoothly, and everything was good. That was until my boyfriend misplaced the money order, and then this is when the problems started piling onto eachother.

We went back to the bank, and told them the problem. The man behind the desk was less than helpful. He told me that there was nothing that he could do, and only one person could help me, who was conveniently not at the bank at the time. He took all my information and told me that an investigation would have to go into this. He said that there should be positive outcome and that he/and or manager would update me frequently. He also said that I can call at any time. Yeah, right.

The manager called me once in the two weeks. I called back and left a message on her voicemail and did not receive a phone call back. I called again, and she was not in again and did not call me back. After calling the bank quite a few more times trying to find out who exactly could help me, and when, I finally got an answer.

And then something else happened... Both of my cards had been cancelled while I was away for 3 days a few hours away. My boyfriends was also cancelled. We called their "Easy-Line" on the back of the debit card, and they could not do anything for us at all. They said that we'd have to go into a branch. But of course, it was a stat holiday that day, and we would not be anywhere close to a bank for another day. The banks "Easy-Line" telephone service representative apparently could not re-activate my card and I was without money for three days. What use are these representatives if they cannot do anything? Why are they not given some kind of authority to do these things? What are they being paid for!? So, because we apparently used our cards in a "suspicious" place, they deny me access to my funds? That is MY hard earned money. How dare they not give me a warning and cancel my card. I needed money in those three days, and I was told on the phone to go renew my card, and of course, as I said, it was conveniently on a stat holiday.

Then I finally went into the bank one morning and met the original girl that I was told was the only one that could replace money orders, even though there was apparently two other managers that could do it. One of which we found out was non-existant, meaning, there was no one who worked there with the name the lady on the phone gave me. Great!

So, to sum things up, I had a less than helpful representative at the bank who basically told me that there was nothing that he could do, and that he hoped that no one would cash our missing money order. He did NOT offer a stop payment on it because, as the manager said to me when I went in the get another one, they "wanted to see how it was going to turn out". The bank was waiting to see what was going to turn out with my $819 dollars! They finally put a stop payment on it, but apparently we are still responsible for the money order. So there is a $819 money order floating around in Toronto, and apparently a stop payment does nothing because we are still responsible for it! HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? Why does the stop payment not do anything? Why can't they cancel it? Why do I have to be responsible for the FIRST money order?

Then I had the lady on the phone give make believe managers just to cover her a** because she did NOT know what she was talking about, and all this just for a money order. And then when I asked the manager about the card being cancelled and the denial of my funds all she could say was that it was used in a place with suspicious acitvity. How can they do that? Deny me my own money?

In the end I can definately say that I am changing banks. I am also going to write a formal complaint at the terrible customer service I received from TD Bank in Toronto.

CIBC and Customer Service / Accountability

Location: Ontario, Toronto (1-800)
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Visa Customer Service

I noticed some fraudulent charges on my CIBC credit card in late September. I called CIBC's Visa customer service line to report them. I went through a LONG drawn-out process to make sure that they had understood and itemized absolutely everything. I know that they had it correct because they repeated every single date and line item in question. Phew I thought, "that was easy!" And it should have been easy, every single disputed charge references exactly the same 1-800 number. I was told to expect a letter outlining all of the charges for my signature so that they could be investigated and reversed. "No problem" says I!

I get the letter; it contains a fraction of the charges that I know that the bank entered into their system. It comes from some woman with the initial "S" so I call her. She's not available so I leave a detailed message with my CC number and 2 different phone numbers. She doesn't reply. I call her again and leave the same message several days later… She doesn't reply!

I finally get fed up and call the main number complaining that nobody is returning my call. I get put on-hold forever until "S" finally shows up on the phone. I inform her again (3rd time now) in person about the problem and tell her that about half of the disputed charges are not on the letter… And I ask why because I tell her that I know absolutely every charge was noted and read back to me in my original call. In fact, I even tell her that she's reversed a legitimate charge. She doesn't know much, says everything she was provided is in the letter, but that I can hand write the missing info in myself with the dates and amounts and then return it to her. So I do.

I wait the suggested time and check my statement on-line. There are still 2 charges that haven't been reversed. I've learned my lesson about trying to contact "S" directly so I call the main-line and ask to make sure that I can speak to someone live… Somehow or other they get "S" on live with me. I again explain the situation and express a little frustration about the fact that the bank can't get this correct. I give her the amounts in question and she says "oh that first one was already credited" and I say "no it hasn't"! She says that that charge from X date was credited on Y date. I say "you're correct but I'm talking about the charge from W date which was clearly outlined in the letter I sent to you". She now says AGAIN that she'll take care of those 2 "missed" charges and reverse them immediately.

I ask about the interest rebate for ALL of the charges. She says that I should see something on my statement called an "interest reversal". I haven't seen anything like that so I ask where it is… She seems surprised and tells me that she's going away to calculate it… She comes back after an incredible time on hold and tells me that she'll be reversing less than $7.00. I don't understand because there are about $800.00 in questionable charges so I ask how she came up with that amount, since we're dealing with hundreds of dollars over several months… She flips me to someone we'll call "M".

"M" tells me that she has 15 years of customer service experience and can perhaps explain the interest issue better than "S". She tells me that the interest reversal that "S" was referencing was just in regard to the charges I had asked about that day. I say "that's not what she said"… "M" says that the system would have automatically reversed the interest on the previous reversals and the "new" total would have been reflected in my monthly interest charge. I say "that's not what she said"…

I then ask if "M" is the manager of "S" and I'm told "no". I'm asked why and I say I'd like to express a little frustration with the amount of time that this has taken to get corrected along with the fact that "S" won't return her calls. Engage "M's" attitude…

First I'm told that "S" never had to reverse the 2nd set of charges because I didn't fill out the letter correctly. I say I filled it out exactly as I was told to by "S", in fact I filled it out while I was talking to her. I'm told that if "M" had seen it she wouldn't have approved it, "S" was good to me by accepting the letter as is. You mean the person that won't return my phone calls is being good to me? The person that can't get her job right when everything is spelled out easily for her is being good to me? Wait, the same person who missed reversing 2 charges on that same letter is being good to me? The one that had no idea that she'd fucked up is being good to me?

I then ask why it takes ME following up a significant number of times to have this done correctly… "M" goes into a bit of a tirade about illnesses, family issues, vacations, etc. At this point I'm upset, I tell her that that's no different than any other business out there and that most of them are able to continue being responsible and do their jobs while working through that same shit. "M" doesn't like that response… I want to hold "S" accountable for doing her job and being responsible to the bank's customers... That seems to be completely out of line according to "M". I again ask why this process is so fraught with errors and has taken so long… "M" says that "S" just missed it. And I say "the first time, the second time or the 3rd time?" "M" gets REALLY upset and finally says "OK, it's human error"!

What?!?! A bank employed just admitted to me on a phone call that is supposed to have been recorded that they fucked up due to "human error"! Funny, she wants me to accept it from the bank, but when whenever I've had a "human error" issue from my side, the bank won't accept it. Could this be a double standard?

So, hopefully in a couple of days I'll be able to check my statement on-line and see 3 credits… 2 for the remaining contested charges in question and 1 for the "interest reversal". God help me if they're not there.

Standing up to bad service

Location: Quebec, montreal
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Banker

I've belong to this bank for years and so I brought my friend with me so she could open up her account there. We had just moved into our new apartment earlier that day. We went into this mans office (the door stayed open)

Banker: ok so whats your address?

Me: 56 Tucker apt #3, Montreal, Qc

Banker: ok whats your postal code?

Me: Oh I'm sorry I we don't know it yet, we just moved.

Banker: (condescending) So you don't know your postal code?

Me: (still politely) No, we just moved, is it necessary?. Can you look it up?

Banker: (condescending) Soooo, you don't know where you live?

Me: (getting stern) We know where we live, we just don't know the postal code!

Banker: (condescending) You don't know you postal code?

Me: (at this point I stud up from the chair and was yelling) What are you stupid! How many times do I have to tell you we don't know our postal code WE JUST MOVED! (As I slammed my fist on his desk and was yelling in his face)

Banker: Get out of my office!!

Me: NO! I'll get out when I'm damn well ready to! (I sat back down and very very slowly put my papers back in my purse wile staring at him)

Banker:....

So the next day my mom who also goes to that same bank comes up to me and asked me what happened at the bank. I said "nothing". My mother then went on to say "well I donno what you did but when I went to the bank today all the tellers ran up to me and said " I love your daughter!" " LOL turns out the banker I dealt with was an ass to everyone there but no one has had the balls to say anything.

(Don't take crap from people! Stand up when somethings not right)

President's Choice Financial Mastercard

Location: Alberta, edmonton
Industry: Finance

I was told by Brian, an employee, in March, that my 0.97% balance transfer rate would be good until July 15, 2008

On my June statement I got dinged $17.73 interest (19+%) because the company says the 0.97 % expired in May.

I've called them on at least three different days, documenting who I talked to, at what time, on what date. I gave them Brian's employee number, the date and time of the call and the confirmation number he gave me of the 0.97%.

Yesterday I was on the phone with five different employees for 38 minutes. The prior two phone calls in June were at least 16 minutes total.

My take home pay is about $18-$20/hour. If I'd known it would've taken so long to get this resolved, I wouldn't have bothered because it hasn't been cost effective - but then my cranky-old-woman-before-her-time-self whines "But it's the PRINCIPLE of it!"

Yesterday, I told them they had 10 days to rectify the problem or I'm cancelling my account, which has a zero balance. Why would I use a service which has no service?

Canadian Funny Money

Location: Alberta, Red Deer County
Industry: Government
mv md
My father-in-law recently flew to Calgary from Winnipeg. He went to Marlin Travel to purchase his ticket as he has done every year for the past half a dozen years. When he tried to pay for his ticket with cash, he was informed that Westjet and the Great People's Airline (AC) no longer accept cash. Now, this gent is 87 years old and legally blind, although he has some limited sight.
He was told he would have to use a credit card for the purchase. He does not use credit cards because he has been warned that with his poor vision he would be vulnerable to scamming clerks who could put almost anything on the card. He had verified the price beforehand and had gone to his bank to withdraw the funds. The people at his bank are aware of his situation and don't cheat him. He had to call his daughter to drive into the city to put the charges on her credit card. Since when can any corporation decide they will not accept cash which has the words Legal Tender written on it? When did the mighty Lords in government outlaw the use of Canadian currency? We, the great unwashed, have always been told that the money, printed by the government, was valid for any and all transactions. I e-mailed the Finance Department and was told it was not their problem. I e-mailed the Treasury Department and was told it was not their problem. I e-mailed my local MP and received a reply from his office filled with bafflegarb and BS, but answered nothing. What's next...will WalMart or Canadian Tire (those great icons of corporate integrity!!!!) decide they don't like cash either and force us all to use credit cards so they can apply their usurious interest rates? I don't recall a government statement telling us that Canadian Currency was no longer an acceptable method of payment for goods or services.

instadebit is a company that is 3rd party payment or receiving of online gambling sites.their service is totally based on their time on when they feel up to it.their company webpage says 5 bus. days for withdrawal of funds.but whos 5 days are they talking about?theirs or mine.i still did not receive an answer to that question as of yet.so for 9 days for me.when companies do acts of this nature to the consumers why is there no one to protect us?all we can do is complain on these sites hoping that maybe someone will here and do something for us.if you read this let me make a suggestion.if you were to play online at any gambling bus.i would suggest that you first ask if a cashout option could be made thru western union.at least with this company no bs.if the bus. that you are inquiring does not have that option i strongly suggest you leave or you will end up in the same boat as i am today. instadebit sucks big time they have no regard to their clients or bus. sense.all they care about is themselves.and why not no one is keeping them to their word or protecting us.

CIBC Investors' Edge is scamming the RRSP account users

Location: Ontario, Toronto
Industry: Finance

CIBC Investor's Edge now charges $106 for RRSP account users if you don't have over $25,000 in your balance. They will not reverse the charges even if you close the account. This is a much higher threshold than other banks' self investment services. For example, BMO's InvestorLine charges a fee for RRSP Accounts if you have less than $15,000 instead.

Business Banking

Location: Ontario, Guelph
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Teller

I own a business in Guelph, Ontario and opened my account for my business a few months ago. I was told I had to PAY for some pre-printed deposit slips (on top of the regular monthly fees) so ok I did. My business is mobile so I sometimes will go straight to the bank to deposit cheques before going back to the office where my deposit slips are.
When I get to the bank without a deposit slip the tellers will look at me like I have just asked them to prepare my taxes for last 10 years. Apparently typing in a series of 8-10 numbers and getting a slip to run through a printer is an extreme amount of work for them. Every month I wonder what I pay my fees for. As far as I am concerned I am paying the wages these "overburdened" tellers are collecting and if I do not have a deposit slip on me they should gladly print one up. If I ran my business with this OBVIOUS "I am doing you a favour" attitude I would have no business left in sight of a week.
Lighten up tellers and be happy you have a job. Provide me the service I am paying for and we will both be much better off

banks stink

Location: Ontario, Ottawa
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Scotia Bank

Scotia secretly waited almost a whole year for my bank balance to reach a certain amout in order to"steal" what they said was owed to them. I complained that they caused me hardship and even involved the Ontario Banking ombudsman. They admitted the mistake and waived my monthly banking fees for a year.

Sneak Attack Telemarketing!

Location: Alberta, Alberta
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: BMO

I received my shiny new BMO Mosaic credit card in the mail recently. I called the number on the sticker to activate my new card and dutifully followed the promts given to me. At the end a recorded voice came on not to tell me that I needed to talk to a customer rep (I got no confirmation the card was activated just that I needed to speak with someone directly) . We have had our credit cards and bank accounts skimmed by criminals in the past so I imediately panicked and stayed on the line while my small children screamed in the background for 15 minutes as they were busy dealing with other customers.

Finally a customer service rep came on the line and I braced myself for some bad news regarding my account when she asked me what I wanted. I told her I was activating my replacement credit card and a message told me to talk to a customer rep and she said cheerily, "oh yah you card is fine we want to know if you want the extra credit card insurance". Needless to say I was kurt and ended that call at once! I guess calling people at dinner time to peddle these products wasn't cutting it?

So beware!

Bank of Montreal - bad customer service!

Location: Alberta, Calgary
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Bank of Montreal

Called on numerous occaisions and left voicemails for important callback for my question to be answered. After visiting the branch a week later the manager apologized said they were busy, but still the same poor service as they sit me down with a brand new banking representative with little to no experience and could barely answer my questions in audible english.
What ever happened to customer service?

Bank of Montreal is a cheat

Location: Ontario, Toronto
Industry: Finance
Annoyed By: Bank Of Montreal

Hi -
I have been with BMO for past 2 years & off late i visited the branch at sheppard & kennedy , Toronto ON to deposit my USD money order. I wanted Bank statement from them saying have so & so CAD in my account for my Immigration. At first the teller advised to open USD account as it goods for exchange rate & guided me to talk to the manager. The manager was some dumb stupid female. She told me it will take 30 days for
clearance. The i asked them will it be possible to gimme the statement the same day or with in the week even though the the MO takes 30days to clear. At first she told she can give the statement immediately & then opened the USD account. Once the formalities of opening the account was complete , she changed her tune saying that we have to wait for 30 days. I was taken aback by her change of attitude in less than 15 minutes. And also she mentioned there will be collection charges the the MO. I said fine, but asked her how much will be the collection charges. She said she is not sure. Again i was surprised how a bank employee worth its name dont' know the collection charges for the MO !!! I asked her how can she not know & confronted her she promised me the statement before opening the account & changed her line once done. She said she will get back to me after talking to her manager. After sometime she came back saying she cant give the statement very soon & has to wait for 30 days. I had enought of it & said want my MO back & close my USD account. I am thinking of switching to TD on monday. These guys has no ethics or standards..BMO SUCKS!!!
