I have to let someone know that I have never had someone steal from me and actually acknowledge that they did and tell me that there isn't anything that they could do about it.
I joined the gym in Sept 2009, the year that I decided to go back to school after 7 years to do something that I've always wanted to do. Become a teacher. I knew that it was going to be tough to make time for it especially with a busy year of teacher's college and on a tight budget since I wasn't going to be working. But I made a careful budget decision and knew that I had to be dedicated and do things for me. 

So sometime in Jan/Feb, I went to the bodyjam class and rolled over my ankle. It wasn't fun. Because the goodlife that I usually went to was located in the basement, I had to climb up a flight of stairs to get home. I wasn't sure if was broken or not at the time but it sure hurt. A lot.
Sure enough I woke up the next day with the fattest bruised ankle that I've ever seen. I could barely walk on it. When I went to the doctors he told me that I had sprained it and when I inquired about the gym he said I wouldn't be able to go for a very long time. 

It wasn't the happiest of time cause the weather wasn't so great and practicing teaching and going to school at the same time was hard.

In July, I felt better enough to head back to the gym. When I got there I had inquired about the lost time and the girl at the desk said that I should have asked the gym to have held my membership since my ankle was sprained. It occurred to me then why didn't someone tell me about it 6 months ago when I was stumbling out of the gym. I was a little upset at this point. The girl said the manager wasn't in but I could call some number she gave me to see what they could do.
So I talked to someone over the phone about what had happened. They said that they couldn't do anything about it cause I didn't say anything at the time that it had happened. Really, I wondered, that isn't very nice. So over the phone, I said that after my year with goodlife which was to end in september I would no longer be coming back and that I would like to cancel my membership.

I went in once after and was so disappointed with the service that I couldn't even bother to stay. I told myself I made a poor decision and just to forget about this whole experience. 

But wait... day before new years eve and I get a bbm from my friend that my membership was under and she's telling me that I owe her some money cause goodlife has been taking it out under my name. WHAT? You would think, cause I cancelled my membership already how could this be?

I call the 1-800 number and they tell me that there is no record of my call, tells me the membership is cancelled but there isn't anything she can do cause she doesn't have a record and that I would need to call my home store. I call the home store, the manager is busy, I explain the situation to the girl who answers. She tells me that the manager will have to call me back.
I wait.. about an hour.

Manager calls me back.

I explain to her the situation but there isn't anything she can do except refund me the months that I missed from my injury as long as I get a doctor's note.

Fine.. that's nice..

But the three months that I wasn't a member at goodlife, I still have to pay because there is no record of my phone call. Someone clearly dropped the ball on this one and I have to pay for it...
What is a goodlife? For me it was about a frustrated and stressful time. Goodlife didn't give me a healthier, happier life. Getting fit wasn't fun, it wasn't easy or affordable. I really do feel like goodlife stole from me, acknowledge that goodlife did and that there isn't anything goodlife could do about it.

Caffe latte w/ EXPIRED Soy

I sent the following email to Starbucks Head Office on Monday Dec 20th, have not yet received a response.
I want to report on an incident I had this past Saturday Dec 18th 2010. I purchased a grande caffe latte with soy from the Starbucks inside Indigo at Yorkdale Mall. I felt really sick just minutes after, and threw up 10 times, when I was at the mall. I almost had to go to the hospital b/c of dehydration. The soy was definitely expired. I've had this drink over 100 times before and this is the first time it happened. I suggest you please check the expiry dates on your products before serving them to customers!!!"

Favorites Catalog is not a Favorite

I ordered Christmas gifts on December 6 from Catalog Favorites, with written promised delivery between 5 and 9 days. On the 10th day, having received no package, I tracked the package and discovered that Fed Ex was promising delivery by December 27!!! What good does this do me? Obviously, the seller does not communicate with either its customers or FEd Ex, or both. When I called the catalog company they said they could not help me but I could return the items when they are finally delivered, and they offered to refund my shipping costs. This is not a mere slip up of package getting lost; this is their pattern.

You are FINED for Number Porting

Strange the way it is... No matter how you go. Bell charges you disconnection fees for number porting by other carrier. If you ask Bell to cancell, you will definitely not get that number and your number will be gone before its ported. Bell dont take advance notice from the other provided you are trying to switch to.
Very annoying!!! even when you are in no contractual obligations.
I would never ever go with Bell. Enough of my loyalty shown to them over the past 10 years

I'd go to videotron today if I didn't have such a good package deal, but OTOH, is it a good package if a chunk of it is next to useless?

The latest: When I first joined up, years ago, I was given free personal web space. I connected to it with Ipswitch FTP and got support for it when I ran into trouble the first time I used it. Then I let the site go fallow for 3-4 years. Now I try to use it, and can't! I can connect, I can see the site, but cannot make any changes. I call support--they WON'T help me, claiming that the web space was just a freebie. What do they mean, I don't pay for it?! It was part of the package when I signed up for sympatico! 

These people are utterly useless! I can never get anyone who can help me with anything!

When I refused to pay for sub Manager got in my face and said your lucky I made you the sub in the first place, my deli worker didnt show up today and this took extra time out of my busy day! Dont return to my store until your prepared to pay for this sub first.

The poor customer service and failure to respond is enough to discourage anyone from making a purchase through this company. They also charge extra for products where you can easily find elsewhere for a much inexpensive price. 

I recently placed an order with them and received a wrong item shipment that has not been settled despite previous customer complaints of wrong item listings.

Not only do they NOT honor customer concerns, they hang-up on customers and obviously place you on a "do not respond" list if you are a customer who is simply trying to contact them in regards to any issue in which ultimately they are responsible for reconciling without additional charges being made to shipment pick-up, prepaid postal as well as UPS or FedEx. They also only offer UPS shipping, but will not offer prepaid pick-up as most other companies do, for customer convenience.

Do NOT make purchases through and beware of their name on any third party website vendors such as Amazon. Again, they charge much more for products found elsewhere (probably to discourage customers as they clearly do not want to abide by customer courtesy correspondance), and will not respond to calls or emails for follow-up for prompt refunds.
Here is a list of other customer complaints like mine. (Scroll down past business info) and you will get a better idea of the many complaints towards's incompetent customer service.
If you are someone who has previously made a puchase with them and have had these issues, I would suggest sending a complaint (as many as possible from as many people) to let them know that this will not be tolerated. After that, I would cease any business with them period. There are so many other websites with lower prices for products and better arrangement for customer service concerns.
Also, feel free to file this and other complaints under the Better Business Bureau. The more you do this, the more businesses like these will be non-existent and strive for better customer service courtesy as the customers are the ones who keep the business thriving in the first place.
A little word to this business and others like it, "Don't bite the hand that feeds!" Enough said.
AVOID this seller.

Teacher Supply Store Gouges Teachers so they can make a profit

My original email to the company questioning why their prices were so high compared to Chapters bookstore:
As a teacher who purchases her own resources from her paycheck and does not get reimbursed from the school, I am curious how come a "teacher store" is so much more expensive than Chapters for the same items.
I selected approximately 40 books and found all but maybe 6 were cheaper at Chapters.
Each book at your store was marked up anywhere from $1 to $13+ depending on the item. The half a dozen that I did find at your store were simply unavailable at Chapters but I can only assume it they had been, they would have been cheaper.
Why is this? Why do you mark up your products so much that it appears you are gouging your clientele? Do you realize that most teachers purchase materials for learning from their personal funds and do not get any kind of refund from the school or from income tax?
Needless to say I found it very disappointing. As much as I would like to shop locally, I can't afford to.

Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I am one of the two owners of Cornerstone Learning Resources.
I appreciate your concerns, as I understand that as a teacher, you are required to purchase many of the resources you use out of your own pocket.
We have been operating since April 2005, and about three years ago we had to make an important decision: either compete for the lowest price and reduce our services, OR continue to offer the same services, and pass on the real cost of these services through product sales. We decided on the latter. You see, the cost to provide the specialty resources that you do not see at Chapters is much greater than the other resources. That is because many of these resources are ordered directly from the publisher, from whom just a handful of items are purchased, creating an increased cost in handling the product (receiving, labelling, ordering), and increased shipping costs, which many times exceed 30% of the product cost.
In addition, there is cost involved in finding these specialty products. We have clients ask us for resources to meet specific learning outcomes, and specific classroom and/or an individual child's needs, and we provide at no charge, the time necessary to research and find appropriate products.
So, we are not Chapters, and we do not intend to be. I understand that due to your limited budget, you may need to find the best prices, and that is OK. And for the other products that Chapters does not carry, I do hope you will visit us.
As for your comment on "gouging" our customers, I would hazard a guess that my take home pay is roughly around 20% of yours, hour per hour.

First of all your comment is insulting. Second of all it's ignorant. It tells me you don't have any idea just how many hours I personally work in a week versus how much I make. The school day may only be five hours long, but I work an additional 3-6 hrs per day that aren't on the books--including 10-12 hrs each weekend.
You think your take home pay is roughly 20% of mine? I'd be willing to bet that you make more than $2.68 per hour--which is exactly what I make if I counted all the hours I work. So based on your comments, no I won't be coming to visit for the things Chapters doesn't carry and will make sure that the rest of my colleagues taking home less than $3 per hour know about our conversation as well.

McGinty gov tells grocers to hide HST...

Lack of service at Best Buy was worth $100/hour

I received very minimal help by the staff at a Best Buy location in British Columbia. So I sent a complaint as follows:
I went to the Best Buy location in ----, British Columbia at 8:45 in the evening. Please send the management this following message: Your team needs to be educated in customer service. I was at the mice and keyboard section when I asked a CSR playing with a Sony Ebook reader for help. He said that he'll get the CSR for that department. He never came back. As time past when I was waiting, 5 CSRs passed me without asking me for assistance. When I flagged another CSR over assistance, he had to page some other CSR. When the CSR for keyboards came by, I asked if he had a Bamboo pen and touch in stock. He said he'll check the inventory at the back. 15 minutes past without any feedback. I went to the entrance of the inventory looking for the CSR. I saw him chatting with stuff and laughing with them. After he left the inventory room, he looked and past me without saying anything. I had to catch up to him and ask him about the product. He said that he forgot about it and said there's nothing in stock. Again, please tell their manager about their lack of customer service. I can certainly get better service at a motorcycle bar."
Within 48 hours, I received an apology from the store manager and a $50 gift card as a sign of goodwill.

I will keep my story short.

Took my leased car to dealership for repairment after an accident, total bill is about $10K. However I have to wait for 2 months since they do not have the headlight part, they ended up ordering it from Germany and ship it here.

Phone and wrote letter to headquarter to quantify my loss, and finally got 2 months of lease payment reimbused + 1 month of car rental + a free service package.

Sometime it is worth the time to voice out your complaints.

I was having problems with my Old Rogers Cell Phone, for some reason the phone would turn on then turn off immediately after. I called Rogers and the receptionist said that they could not help me with my problem. Not happy with this answer I took my problem to my local Rogers store, and I let the guy look at my phone, and he came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with the wiring... duh. So he took it and gave me the an Upgrade. So if you have a problem just be patient and polite about things.

Beat Weddings in London are a NIGHTMARE!!!!!

I just wanted to give all future brides and grooms a heads up in London, Ontario about this DJ company called "Beat Weddings".

We met them at the London Bridal Show in 2009, they seemed very professional and nice and knew what they where doing. I could not be so wrong!

A year went by until our wedding and just as it was coming close we had certain wants and needs and Morgan at Beat Weddings just made all these road blocks for us that we could not get a projector etc..meanwhile her Father who met us a year before said they will do whatever and anything they can to make our day "perfect"! HA!

Anyways, clearly we where having no luck with this Morgan so we had to rent our own equipment, fine!

The big day is finally here, August 14 2010. Morgan shows up and is missing quite a few songs I specifically asked for! I spent A LOT of time making a spread sheet etc. for what I wanted and it is was like she did not even look at it!

That is just the beginning people...she was afraid to talk and announce! and she had NO IDEA how to get a party started, no one was dancing or getting into it!
This is the BRIDESMAID who has some experience and knowledge in Djing had to step in and do HER JOB! She had to announce and pick the music and run the show while Morgan is just standing there looking like a deer in head lights! (useless!!!)
If I did not have my bridesmaid step in and do that it would have been quite a boring dance floor that I can almost guarantee.

She also, told my bridesmaid that she has never done a wedding like this and can't MC!
There was nothing complicated about our wedding, Portuguese wedding, approx. 200 people. REALLY?

Anyways, that was $700 we will never get back and was a complete waste, I regret ever considering this company and I hope you all NEVER have to deal with this amount of stupidity as we did that day.

One free year of service from Bell

Had bad service from Bell. They kept Taking more than the proper fee from my chequing account. When I would call them they would say that we never renewed our contract. I nicely asked them how many times a yr I had to renew the contract. When they finally checked into this they came to find out that nobody was checking our contract at all. They just kept taking the money out as they wished. This was all resolved with a reimbusement of one free yr of service. Being nice and not getting angry sure helped me this time. thx

Bell - don't make promises you can't keep

I received a call from someone at Bell asking me to upgrade my home phone service. After negotiating for about a half an hour I agreed to home phone and internet for a reasonable price...a few weeks later I get my bill and to my surprise it was almost double. I called Bell back and complained and complained and complained. They said they fixed the problem with the bill and things should be ok. Well next months bill comes and same problem. Called them back and "really" complained. After about an hour I got a better deal, they fixed my bill and got a discount as well for that month. My motto is don't make promises you can't keep...unless you can fix them later after complaining!!!

ScreenHouses Unlimited - Damaged Material

ScreenHouses Unlimited (Arkew Holdings Ltd.) Sells do it yourself kits in Canada and America for screen rooms, patio covers, screened enclosures, door canopy awnings, and storage sheds.
Complaint #1 – Damaged Material
ScreenHouses Unlimited promises "100% Satisfaction" and assures buyers: "If you are missing or have received a broken piece, simply call our toll-free line and we will courier you the part in as timely a fashion as possible." In 2010, I paid over $4600 for a kit. I received damaged material. I notified them. I sent photos. I brought to their attention Canada's Competition Act Paragraph 74.01(1)(c)(ii) (Deceptive Marketing Practices). They still refused to honor the warranty.
Complaint #2 – Inaccurate Assembly Instructions
ScreenHouses Unlimited advertises "complete" instructions come with the kits. Instead, I received 2 partial instructions dated 1997 / 2001. Their solution? Refer me to 4 more sets of instructions online dated 2004. My contractor has an engineering degree; yet the extra hours to make up for all the instructions' errors and omissions added up to $150. Errors included: unfinished diagrams; different parts identified by one part number; different part numbers for one part; and entire pages about parts not in the kit. So, to build a safe unit, you must compare all the instruction sets and keep delaying work to call and clarify discrepancies.
My Conclusion:
Bad materials + Bad instructions + Bad customer service = Bad business. When I said I was dissatisfied with the instructions and damaged materials, they tried to re-define "100% Satisfaction" as "limited" and didn't mean "satisfaction that is determined by the customer." In my opinion, 100% doesn't mean a limited part of 100%. Still, I offered to accept a partial refund in lieu of reshipping and as compensation for my excess costs. They refused. I don't know if you would say ScreenHouses Unlimited is a fraud, scam, or rip-off, but I do know that I'll NEVER do business with them again!

Well 3 yrs ago me and my girlfriend decided we wanted to get some new phones, we went over to bell since we were in the mall already. We seen these 2 phones that we had ta have HTC P4000.We setup everything and it was all good from there.... soo i thought phone then started to act up and connect to the internet by itself. I contact bell inform them of the situation and they tell me to bring the phone in for repairs.So i do , i get the phone back now for a few days and i receive a call phone call from client care stating that i have a balance right now of $3249.86 in data usage. I had spent countless hours on the phone with them stating of the situation of what was going on with my phone and that fact that i just sent it in for repairs for it connecting to the network after i would completely override the phone manually from it being able to connect. They stated that it wasnt there problem and that i was responsible for the balance at hand. At that point i specifically asked to speak with the highest authority available to express the complete and utter dislike in the service and response im getting from this company ..finally after another hour on HOLD ...i get a regional manager on the line explained the situation yet again and she explains that i will receive a FULL credit for the amount of the balance on $3249.86 and that they will have a new phone waiting for me at the closest Bell mobility to me. After all thatttt the following week my and my girlfriends phones are disconnected due to non payment for the balance of $3249.86 I contact them again and apparently they have no record of the call i made to discuss this and few months down the road i get a letter from a collection agency stating i am in collections for that amount. i still have not paid one penny 2 BELL ever since! And i will never ever go back with them they are CON-ARTIST'S !!!!!!

Phone Company Instore Customer Service

After having my newly purchased phone from [phone company] for a few month I noticed it started having issues. Re: randomly hanging up, buttons not working, won't dial.
Went to rogers to complain and possibly get it fix or replaced. Sales rep was nice, took the phone, gave me a temp and sent me on my way.
A few days later I received a call that my phone was ready to be picked up. I happily arrived hoping to have my phone in working condition. To my surprise the sales rep told he didn't send my phone out to get fixed because it suffered from 'Water damage". I was more than obviously upset as they held my phone for a few days for nothing.. and even more upset because i would remember if I dropped my phone in the toilet or left it outside in the rain. I told him that that was impossible and you know what he did? He laughed at me.. LAUGHED? WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?!??!? My sister was with me at the time I knew she was ready to take off her earrings and attack. But I kept my cool, walked out and called [phone company] customer service who felt really bad for my experience and offered me a credit and discounted service. It didn't really help BUT I know NEVER to deal with [phone company] in store reps again.

My wife and I went out for a nice dinner to the Rosewater Supper Club. We had a reservation for 7:30PM and  we had arrived 15 minutes early. We were informed by the hostess that  the restaurant was at capacity and we would have to possibly wait a few minutes. After waiting 1 hour after our reservation, I approached the hostess again to find out what the status was. She said no one had left  yet from the early seating and we would still have to wait. I told her that was not acceptable and she would need to find us a table within 5
minutes or we would complain to the manager. Little did I know that the  manager was actually standing right there. The manager actually whispered to the hostess "then just tell them anything to get rid of  them". I told her I heard that and we stormed out of there. My wife called the Liberty Group the next day and they called back to say sorry and they offered us a $100 gift certificate off of our next dining  experience.

We went to East Side Marios with the family once for dinner. Once we were seated, they were unable to set the table with a complete set of flatware, glassware and dishes. When I asked about this, I was told it's because they were busy and did not wash the utensils yet. When I told our server that we will need to get... this stuff prior to ordering, our server dismissed us and said it's ok, that we can order before it arrives. I questioned them on how that is possible, because what am I supposed to eat off of and with what. The server got lippy with me and I immediately asked to speak to the manager. Once the manager arrived, I explained what happened. His first action was to fire the server on the spot. His second was to apologize and had our table set within minutes. The following day, we received a phone call from the store manager and he wanted to send us a $50 gift card. It's a good thing we used it right away because that location not surprisingly closed a few months later.

I went to the drive-through for Popeyes hoping to get some chicken about a half hour before close. I placed my order and was informed by the man at the other end that they only had 1 piece of chicken, biscuits and salad remaining. I asked him if he realized that there was still 30 minutes left before close and he told me he did. I said forget it and drove off.

Having worked in fast food when i was younger and having put up with people who came into the store with mere minutes left this experience really irked me. I complained via a form on the Popeyes website. About a week later I got an apology call from the manager and was offered a free meal.
