So I'm reviewing my Rogers cell phone bill and see "Third Party Charges" I received 6 text messages at $5.00 each.
Somehow I agreed to this. Don't know where or when, but I agreed to it....So they say. I didn't sign or read any contract. The company is called TIM w.e. and they hide behind a company called NATTA. Anyone can enter YOUR cell phone number on this web site and you get billed for it. They send you text messages in the form of a question with multiple choice answers. Even if you don't answer,(which I never did) you get billed for each text. Rogers won't help you remove them because they "don't know the terms of the third party contract" You have to remove the NATTA subscription yourself.
Heres how...and it cost me $30 to find this out.

This is true alright, just call a Rogers Service Rep and ask them how many other people are complaining about this.
I wonder if the people that own TIM w.e. are entering phone #s just to make $?

ReplyDeleteI work for a cell phone company, and we get tons of these calls a day. As frustrating as it is for you, its frustrating for us too. The CRTC are the people who regulate third party charges and cell phone providers, and the reason that they cant do anything is because their hands are tied by the law. I always tell customers that if you ever get a text from a number that isnt a typical ten digit number, reply stop to it, and then when your billed for it, the number is on the bill to call for a refund. As soon as you call them, request to speak to a manager, because the front line agents have their hands tied.

ReplyDeleteI had already read this post, yet decided: "hmmm, my phone company wants to collect this money for a third party, then they'l have to credit me on behalf of the thirs party as well." Called FIDO, got a good will credit (INCLUDING the taxed portion that the braindead agent couldn't understand was also incorporated into my total bill. Then took a shot at the "third party". WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW... ANSWERING SERVICE... HER NAME WAS "OPERATOR NUMBER WHATEVER"... NO EMPLOYEES OR MANAGERS WERE AROUND AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHEN ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE (SURPRISE SURPRISE)... ALL SHE COULD DO IS TAKE A MESSAGE (TOLD HER MY NAME AND NUMBER, REFUND ME, REMOVE ME FROM ANY AND ALL MAILING LISTS - as instructed by fido, big help that tip was - and HAVE THE MANAGER CALL ME TO CONFIRM THIS)... guess who called me? NOBODY! Please excuse the caps, just Steamed that these scammers can get away with this through the Helpless hands of the "legitimate" cell phone providers having their hands tied.
LONG STORY SHORT - force the provider to credit you cuz I doubt we'll get any real justice from this NATTA Tim w.e. outfit.

I just started a 3 year contract with Rogers, my first bill I found 11.00$ in Third Party Charges with Natta alerts and immediately stopped it. The bill for this month comes in and there's ANOTHER 6.00$ charge for Natta Alerts. I STOPPED IT LAST MONTH? How is this happening again? and I didn't even receive any random multiple choice stupid trivia questions???
