Six rings to answer, then put on hold for ten minutes. Go automated or hire more people to answer phones. There is no excuse for a phone to ring and ring and ring.
Customer Service starts at the Front Door. Your customer does not need to hear excuses. There is no excuse for a phone to ring six times or go unanswered. Hire more staff.

- How are things going? (figure of speech, I don't want to know.)
- visibly stressed (stutters; doesn't know what to say next)
