Wicker Emporium - Never Again

We went to Wicker Emporium at the beginning of May and purchased china glass cabinet in full pay (JAVA CAB.-STAIN-COUNTRY MAHOGANY) which at the time they did not have any in the stock. They promised that the delivery day will be at the end of May. Nobody bothered to call us at all to tell us anything until we called. They postponed delivery day to the end of June, which was already a little too long to wait. June came and yet no call from Wicker Emporium. We wrote Head Office a letter describing our situation and they didn't respond very professionally to us either. They were unable to resolve our problem because they told us that they oversold the item we already purchased. They also told us we can wait till November when the new stock comes which would mean we would wait 6 months from when we paid. They only offered us $50 gift card for waiting 6 months instead of 30 days. We were deeply disappointed not only with management but with salesperson who sold us the item and we didn't even get apology from her. Katherine (the salesperson) lacked of customer service who even told us rudely "First come, first serve" even though we paid for the item 3 months ago. Does the problem lye in very low hiring criteria or disorganized management we don't know. One thing we know is not to recommend this store to any one and we are positive that we will never go there again.


  1. I recently moved into a much smaller house and had to sell off a lot of my furniture. I went into the Wicher Emporium and fell in love with this dining room table and chairs set. I purchased it, brought it home and was thinking it may be too big for the space. I really tried to make it work but upon having guests over for dinner realized the set had to go back because there was really no room for movement. I had two weeks to return the set to get my money back. Clearly, I would have to purchase a smaller set. My husband works 200kms way so he was unable to return the furniture for me until he got his days off and could travel home. Unfortunately, because I was three days over the two week period the Wicker Emporium will not take the dining set back and reembuirst me for the cost of the set. Had my husband been home, it wouldn't have been a problem. They are willing to give me a credit note though. Hello!!! I just bought the smallest table set they had! Well, I am about to call "Judith" who takes care of these matters....I will let you know the results of the conversation in a few minutes.

    1. Good for you.. 3 days for me is a joke.. And obviously 2 weeks return policy is a joke. If your table cracked 2 days after the 2 weeks what are you supposed to do? HATE this company!

  21. Please don't blame the employees, I worked for them before and like your title says '' never again ''! They just don't care at all about their employees and their customers. I remember fighting with head office about the date arrival for customers orders and they never give you an actual answer. They will respond '' it should be on the next shipment '' and then the next shipment become a month, a year etc.

    It was hard for us to keep up with that craziness, I liked my customers and I was doing everything to make sure they had what they ask for. I gave my notice last October because I couldn't take it anymore. Moving all that heavy furniture around by myself was hard I remember crying every night after work because I was so tired. Having the customers being mad at you everyday because they didn't have their furniture yet was hard on the brain. The thing is head office don't even tell you if it's gonna be late or not.. You just have to take a guess as an employee and hope that the customer won't ripe your face because they are frustrated and I don't blame them at all. Myself I was frustrated because of all the bullshit they give you.

    Most of the time I was working by myself at night, with the store way too full (i couldn't see the front door) and I was scared just because you can't even tell if someone is in the store because it is WAY too crowded. I was working with a girl one day and a bookcase almost fell on her! They don't even give you tools to move the furniture around, you have to use your body and you can't even wear hard shoes.. I mean what the hell is this, you have to move furniture with girly shoes because it's all about the look! They are one of the worst company I know.. The furniture cracks all the time, if you want to buy something damaged (obviously everything is damaged because it's too crowded) they will only give you a 10% discount and It will be a final sale, which is bull crap!

    You know that awesome 50% off sale, well I bet you're not stupid! It's obviously not a sale when it's been on for 3 to 4 years! And when you're not happy they will give you a 50$ gift card just so you can shut up, but what can you buy for 50$ really? A small basket? Everything is so damn overpriced!

    So like I was saying don't blame the employees, it's probably the worst company to work for. The employees don't even have a discount.. because the discount is 50% off on everything, but since everything is always 50% off then there's no discount at all.. What a joke.. So don't ever buy anything from them because it's not even worth it. Most of the time the customers orders were damaged or cracked even if with was coming from the Warehouse, because they don't event take a look at it before they send it. And then again it's the employees that deal with that crap.. I got yelled at so often it wasn't even funny anymore. So if the employee didn't called you to let you know, it's probably because Head Office didn't send anything about it, or she was scared to have an angry customer because after a while that's all you get. And let me tell you I was an angry employee as well.. When you pay more than 1000$ for something you should get a better service than that and if it is late you should get more than a 50$ gift card!

    The thing they don't tell you as well '' first come first serve'' When we look on our computer and it says they have 20 of what you're looking for.. If the other stores order them before you than too bad for you, you will be on the next order which can take a year... They don't update the system and they don't send an email about it. It would be so much easier to send and email to all stores saying, there is only 5 of this item left event though it says 20 on your computer. I'm still amazed by the lack of communication of this company.
