Theiving, lying restaurant
Industry: Restaurant
Annoyed By: Cafe Jean Sebastien Bar
Used to love this place (49 Saint Jacques in downtown Hull) but not any more, not since they changed ownership/management over a year ago. Subjective things such as lower quality menu are one thing, but not getting stiffed when came time to pay.
We tried to pay with one of their gift certificates, but, in spite of the amount on the certificate being several dollars more than what was on the bill, they refused to give us change, saying they never did (lie, the place used to) and that this was the industry standard (again, major lie.)
You have been warned. Pity, used to be such a great place ...

Food Order-taking issue becomes the customer's issue
Location: Ontario, Toronto
Industry: Restaurant
Annoyed By: How rude the waitress was
Aji Sai restaurant (All your can eat japanese food) on Queen West.
While the AYCE food there is not bad, they have absolutely terrible service.
I was there on yesterday, a Thursday after work hours.
I was sitting towards the back of the restaurant. The waiters/waitresses do not come by often. I had to constantly wave frantically for them to see us. As a result, we do not get water/tea refills as often as we do at other restaurants.
The waitress that took our order had issues hearing we wanted one of the dishes canceled (upon ordering said sesame chicken, then told her, cancel that one and replace with terriyaki steak instead), to be replaced by something else. So when the food came and we asked her to take the chicken back as we do not want to waste food, she gave up a nasty glare. Then, the steak that was suppose to replaced her by-mistake taken order never came (and so did all the remaining ones that got missed and never came as well) So we followed up again. She then proceeded to say, "you want BIG or SMALL dish, you know, if you order and you don't finish, you have to PAY for it.". Her tone was extremely rude!
I'd been to the other Aji Sai and had had much better service than what I'd experienced last night. I do not think I'd like to come back to this restaurant anymore.

WildWing in Toronto
Industry: Restaurant
Annoyed By: Waitress and manager
After waiting forty five minutes for 20 wings, I figured I wouldn't make an issue so I kept quiet and figured the worst continued on with my night. After a few hours of more wings ( had to wait 20 minutes for a drink ) I decided to head home. After paying for my bill, I saw that they had schooners ( beer mugs ) for sale. I had gave a pretty big tip so I figured I wouldnt tip when I was paying for my mug. After paying for the mug the waitress pulled the " you forgot to pay " trick and tried getting me kicked out... I ended up paying over $45 and change for a 15 dollar mug after tipping the waitress $30 on a $65 tab minutes before this happened!
This was at Wild Wing on st.Clair avenue west, between Jane street and runnymede in Toronto.

McDonald's franchisee can be terrible...
Industry: Restaurant
Annoyed By: McDonald's
It wasn't until the past few months that I noticed that some McDonald's do not offer refills and have different service standards.
I placed a call to HQ about this issue and they advised me that certain franchisee McD locations are allowed to do as they please.
Here's the story: I ordered a combo meal at a Mcdonald's mall location, my medium beverage was filled full of ice and pop. At that time, i didnt really care less about my cup being full of ice as I was always accustomed to the free refills. Apparently, this location does not offer free refills. I was quite suprised and disappointed by this fact as I was not informed during my purchase and nowhere on the menu stated this fact. Had I known, I would of requested to have not as much ice and more pop.
Now, I am not a cheapie that mooches off free refills but I feel that, as a consumer, I have the right to know about these things. I don't feel it necssary to always ask about whether they charge more for this or do not offer that anymore when other McD locations do. It's McDonalds! We all grew up on it and expect the same consistency in all Mcd venues.
I do also understand that some venues may have a slight increase in their food prices due to demographic regions (airport locations etc) and that the current economy is slow -- But, does NOT offering free refills or charging for extra bbq sauce really make that much of a difference to risk losing a devoted customer permanently? Why don't they just charge you extra for ketchup if that is the case to make a few extra bucks?
Needless to say, I will never goto that McD located in the mall again. If you see that the pop vending machine is behind the counter, it means that they wont offer any refills and may also charge extra for other condiments. Keep that in mind for all you frequent McD goers~

A Very Crappy Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Industry: Restaurant
Annoyed By: Crawpappy's
On a recent outing to this establishment, this reviewer, a 12 year regular at this establishment, was seated at the bar, and was forced to wait for 45 minutes for any contact from the staff on duty. He could not get another drink or even tab out and leave. The staff was playfully engaged in social and drinking activities on the opposite side of the room (to the exclusion of all customers in attendance). Finally, a nice bar-back noticed the situation with the customers, took the initiative, and served another round to those who were waiting. This was not the first time this had happened here, but this time it was the last straw. Please read on ...
After finally getting her attention, this reviewer attempted to lodge an honest complaint about this unfortunate situation to one of the senior staff members (most seniority). His proper customer complaint was met with contempt and agitation from this "service industry professional". He was berated by her for complaining and cursed at for what is a normal customer expectation - decent and timely service. A few kind words (i.e., Customer Service 101) would have resolved the situation immediately and without any further repercussions or ramifications. I certainly cannot recommend this crappy establishment to anyone under any circumstances.

Annoyed By: Pizza Nova
I waS in Pizza Nova about an hour ago. I ordered a slice, chips, and a cplus. When I opened the Cplus, it tasted like it was several years old. I then opened the chips finding them obviously expired. I looked at the date and they expired June 28. Today is July 6. I could not find a date anywhere on the Cplus. my fault for not checking before i left the store i suppose. A word to all, check these things before leaving a Pizza Nova and don't take for granted that everything is fresh. This store was on Burloak Dr, Oakville ON

Rosewater Supper Club
My wife and I went out for a nice dinner to the Rosewater Supper Club. We had a reservation for 7:30PM and we had arrived 15 minutes early. We were informed by the hostess that the restaurant was at capacity and we would have to possibly wait a few minutes. After waiting 1 hour after our reservation, I approached the hostess again to find out what the status was. She said no one had left yet from the early seating and we would still have to wait. I told her that was not acceptable and she would need to find us a table within 5
minutes or we would complain to the manager. Little did I know that the manager was actually standing right there. The manager actually whispered to the hostess "then just tell them anything to get rid of them". I told her I heard that and we stormed out of there. My wife called the Liberty Group the next day and they called back to say sorry and they offered us a $100 gift certificate off of our next dining experience.
$50 gift card from East Side Marios
We went to East Side Marios with the family once for dinner. Once we were seated, they were unable to set the table with a complete set of flatware, glassware and dishes. When I asked about this, I was told it's because they were busy and did not wash the utensils yet. When I told our server that we will need to get... this stuff prior to ordering, our server dismissed us and said it's ok, that we can order before it arrives. I questioned them on how that is possible, because what am I supposed to eat off of and with what. The server got lippy with me and I immediately asked to speak to the manager. Once the manager arrived, I explained what happened. His first action was to fire the server on the spot. His second was to apologize and had our table set within minutes. The following day, we received a phone call from the store manager and he wanted to send us a $50 gift card. It's a good thing we used it right away because that location not surprisingly closed a few months later.

Swanson TV Dinners
My complaint was to Swanson, about their tv dinners. I use to by them for my son when he was young for his lunch. Decided to try the new Fried Chicken one. So after I heated it, I went to cut it up for him and when I did, surprise, the chicken wasn't cooked and it bled onto the plate. Disgusting. So I wrote them a ...letter, including the bar code from the packaging and told them what I thought of it. A few weeks later I received a letter of apology, a cheque for $5 and 5 free product coupons. Needless to say I did not get the fried chicken again.
McDonald's Free Coffee
Nothing big, but I go to McDonald's for coffee every morning on my way to work. About twice a month they get it wrong and when I complain the next day and they always give me a free coffee and sometimes they throw in some free food.
The Works
One day, my spouse and I went with a friend to a local burger joint. We had been before and while the service wasn't stellar by any means, but it was very very busy, they were competent and we enjoyed ourselves. This time was a COMPLETELY different story...
\Upon arriving, we were promptly seated. It wasn't terribly busy but was still somewhat loud, not really a big deal. Our server showed up and we ordered drinks. It took longer than we thought it should, but they showed up eventually. She then took our order. We started with some apps and then, of course, burgers. When our apps FINALLY arrived, they were wrong. We thought she had just misheard and since they were almost the same and we were starving, we ate them anyway. Our burgers weren't any faster, but at least the orders were correct.
When it came time to leave, she showed up with our bills and had charged us for the original app we had ordered, which was more expensive than the one we had actually gotten, and mixed up our bills. We advised of the issue and she went to fix the problem. When she came back the second time, she couldn't remember where we were seated EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE ONLY 2 OTHER PEOPLE IN THAT SECTION OF THE RESTAURANT. I burst out laughing, but at the same time was incredibly frustrated. Needless to say, it was our last time visiting that particular restaurant.

Its Fun To Slide On Greasy Floors!
While waiting in line at the Sooke, BC McDonalds I noticed the employees "sliding around" in the food preparation area. Then I noticed they were coming out into the "waiting line" area, tracking all the grease out of the kitchen. I started "sliding around" while waiting as well and couldn't believe they would not take the time to clean up this obvious safety hazard. When it came my time to order, I showed them the hazard and they said they didn't have time to clean it. At the same time he was saying this, one staff member fell onto her back while trying to manovre around the fry station. I immediately called the head office in Victoria (which I found in the white pages) and explained the situation to the lady. The fact that the grease was being tracked into the restaurant and right by the Kids play area as well could definately be a big liability to them. She was very happy I called. In a week, I received 5 coupons for Big Macs, 5 coupons for ice cream, 5 coupons for fries and 5 coupons for fountain drinks. But I wasn't satisfied with that really. I wanted to see if they actually cleaned the place up and that it didn't happen again. So with my free coupons I basically hung out in McDonalds to see what would happen. The next day I saw an older new person there, which turned out to be an area manager who was sent down to see the issues for themselves. The next day I saw all the staff really cleaning! I casually asked one "wow, you guys are cleaning..." and the staff member said "yeah, apparently someone complained and now we have to do this...." The next day I saw two older area managers holding a meeting with staff about cleanliness. Then finally the next day I actually saw a Workers Compensation Board worker and a Health and Safety guy from the government meeting with the area manager. So the situation was actually dealt with and hopefully the grease will stay in the food and not on the floor!
bad meal from beginning to end
went for dinner
ordered coffee it arrived cold
ordered an appitizer
it never arrived
there were only 7 other people in the resturant
people who arrived after us had recieved their meals and eaten it before ours even arrived
we ordered an chicken diner and a rib dinner
they arrived the chicken dinner had the rib sides on it and you guessed it the rib dinner had the chicken sides
we told the server they were wrong and that we also didn't get the appitizer
he did offer to bring it to us now to eat with our meal
we declined
he took our meals away to correct
when he returned I complained about just how bad the whole meal had been from the very first thing we ordered
we were offered a free desert
so we ordered
and guess what
we were then told what we odered was out of stock
so much for the free desert
we were still charged the full price for our meal
I wrote to head office about my experiance and was sent a $50 gift certificate
Free Beer
Took forever to serve us the beer after we saw the pitcher poured and left sitting for a while. So once we got it we each filled our glasses, took a sip and complained it was flat. Got another pitcher for free (from a different employee)
